Samsung CLX 3160FN – Makes for A Wonderful Printer

The Samsung CLX 3160FN printer is the perfect multitasking color laser printer for small offices or work groups, it is not really advisable for home use as the monthly duty cycle is a little too high to be cost effective. It is shipped network ready and is ideal for general all-purpose office use. It is a reliable copy, fax, printer-scanner and although it may not be the fastest machine on the market when printing graphics, it still comes with good recommendations. The scan and print quality from Samsung toner is very good, but the footprint is not terribly small, so it does take up some space. It weighs 45 lbs and is 18.3″ wide x 16.9″ deep and 19.1″ tall. These dimensions do allow the machine to be easily moved by one person, and hand wells on each side facilitate this quite easily. If your office space is very small it can be set up in a utility closet or another general area for networked use.

The A4 flat-bed scanner has a 50 sheet automatic plain paper feeder, and it is also able to make both copies and scans of legal size. Documents or images many be scanned and sent to the network, copied onto a USB device or captured by your PC.

The printer will make as many as 99 copies at once, and either the ADF or the flat-bed scanner can be used for copying purposes. It poster copies, image clones, zooms and will copy both 2 and 4 up, it also ID card copies. If it is enlargements or reductions you want, making use of the scanner will enable a size ratio of 25 percent to 400 percent. However the ADF enlargement and reduction feature is limited to only 25 percent to 100 percent.

This Samsung machine ships out with a standard 150 sheet plain paper cassette. Fortunately the cassette can be configured to various paper sizes and it also features a single feed tray for manually fed paper. The single feed tray is useful for printing documents once-off and the paper guides may be adjusted to facilitate this.

Samsung CLX 3160FN toner plugs are simple to remove and replace. The machine is packaged with toner plugs, however these are starter plugs and you will not get as many copies out of them as you will with new replacement toner plugs. The starter toner will however get you about 1500 black copies and 700 color copies. New replacement toner will get you quite substantially more than this, generally around 500 more copies in both the instance of the black and the color plugs. Black copies cost approximately 3c and color approximately 18c. The print volume is 24000 monthly and this is one of the reasons why this Samsung machine is recommended for small office environments.
