When you first look into all the possibilities for schools for obtaining your art degree, keep these following points in mind during your search. The first is checking on the work experience of your instructors-to-be. Have any of them ever worked in the environment you hope to be teaching in? Find the time to meet those who would be your instructors. Even better would be getting to sit in on some of the classes.
If that works out then the next thing you should do is see what kind of help they will give you after you graduate. Do they have a department or counselor in this potential art school that will help you find a job after you graduate with your degree? They just might charge for this additional service so be sure to find out what the school’s rates are for this job placement service.
If you are able to, try and speak to former students who have completed the course and graduated from the school you are interested in attending. You will want to know the good as well as the bad points of the course work and placement service. Get tips on the teachers too.
But as well as having your degree it is also important that you have a love for art as well. Through your degree and love of the subject you will be able to guide your students more effectively when the lessons are taking place.
