If you were under the impression that owning a courier franchise is a straightforward, easily run business, think again. you may have been lured into thinking it is all just a few packages, so moving them around should not present much of an issue. If it were a small one person operation, working on a small scale, maybe. However, adding variables like more towns, more vehicles, and a larger team, causes an exponential increase to possible management complications.
Owning your own courier franchise is a great opportunity. The fact that you are buying into an established company, means that most people already know what to expect from your new business as far as quality, service and performance is concerned. You do not need to establish a new brand amongst competitors, as you would have had to if you started your own courier business under your own chosen name. You do not need to establish a track record, as that has already been done.
However, depending on the existing track record of your courier franchise colleagues (the other branches in the group), a standard has been set over time, which you will have to uphold. A major company like DHL International (R), for instance, would not allow the bad management of one franchise to tarnish the public image that cost them millions to establish. They base their marketing on the slogan: “We keep your promises”. The group as a whole has to deliver on this promise of excellence, or risk losing their position in a very competitive market.
Working under such pressures mean that you will have to absorb, and work around, a multitude of possible problems, and still deliver on schedule. Whether you have absent staff, traffic jams, flight delays, or broken vehicles, is of little or no importance to a paying customer. The timely delivery of a parcel is in many instances crucial, and since you have been selected, the customer obviously has more faith in your company.
There is an upside to all of this. It pays well. Especially since the demands and expectations are so high. The better you can adapt to the hectic world of owning a courier franchise, the higher the returns. The courier industry continues to grow, simply because of the increasing demand for speed and convenience. All you have to do, once you open your doors, is to let the local population know that your courier services are available, and be ready.
The business world’s dependence on the courier industry is ever increasing. In the quest for efficiency and productivity, the business world relies heavily on the super fast delivery system, and as a courier franchise owner, you have to help make it happen. The courier industry is hectic, demanding, and extremely profitable. Are you game?
