The plain fact is that many of the smaller businesses that exist today won’t be here tomorrow. The world is mired in global recession, pushing production costs higher to compete in an ever-shrinking markets. Many small companies simply can’t survive this sort of ratio, though it’s sadly become the reality of the financial market.

If the small business is going to survive this economic strife, it will have to change with the times. Today’s business model demands absolute efficiency. At the same time, the increasing competition of the global world necessitates a higher level of quality.

The near and far of it is that small businesses need to improve their production quality with fewer resources. How can they possibly survive such a scenario?

The switch to a VoIP business phone system and business VoIP solutions is one way that smaller companies can meet the increasing needs of the market. Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology combines your Internet and phone systems, so you literally get a better phone system for a cheaper cost. When you add up all the benefits and cost saving measures involved in an Internet-based phone system, you’ll find you’ll actually be paying less for more- higher quality at a fraction of the cost of what you’d pay for traditional phone service.

With a switch to a VoIP business phone system and business VoIP solutions, a small company can virtually do away with its long distance costs. Any calls made to another VoIP phone are absolutely free. Calls made to other phones have a minimal cost, as low as 2 cents a minute and only after you’ve already used up your monthly allotted number of minutes.

It’s one sure way to cut your costs while increasing your businesses professional image. Most people will make their first impression of your company with a simple phone call. Your customers will judge you by how efficiently their call gets managed through the system, as well as how professional your phone tree appears. VoIP technology allows even the small business the luxury of a sophisticated phone system. Calls can be handled promptly and professionally through your own customized system. And you’ll be paying less than you’d pay the traditional phone company.

If you are planning on moving offices, VoIP technology makes it easy. There’s no complicated tangle of wires to mess with. It can all be done digitally, as simple as updating a website.

The world’s is more challenging, and small businesses need to get more competitive if they ever expect so survive. With a VoIP system, you can cut your phone costs and enjoy a more professional system at the same time. Technology makes it possible for the small business to be competitive through more professional services at a lower cost.

Long distance bills are expensive, and completely unnecessary! Voice over Internet Protocol or VoIP utilizes the same technology that has made postal correspondence nearly obsolete ” the internet! Business Voip service works in the same way as a traditional office phone system; it just uses your existing internet connection instead of phone lines. The result is that most good VoIP providers include unlimited long distance for a flat fee, as opposed to the per minute charges from Ma Bell telecoms that drive up phone bills.

Most essential business services are not interchangeable. Theres no alternative to expedited shipping with Fedex or DHL, finding an alternative to the power company isnt a realistic option. But high phone bills are easily replaced.

Business class Hosted PBXs (short for Private Branch Exchange) offer all the features that businesses need to create a professional customer facing presence without the cost of equipment. In much the same way that a hosting company hosts your website, PBX companies host your phone system, and give you a login to manage all the functions from your computer. These functions are identical to the operators you see in old movies managing a switch board, except like everything else these days, software does the entire job. Thus you get Auto-attendants, Virtual Extensions, Voice Mail to Email, Call Forwarding, and Unlimited toll free numbers, all for a fraction of the cost.

HD voice will be as widespread as HD TV in no time. Traditional phone lines wont be able to use HD voice, similar to how the rabbit ears on old television sets cannot receive HD TV. HD voice only works over high-speed internet connections, like the T1 connection that many businesses have in their offices.

If your business has high call volume, there is very little reason not to use Voice over IP. Many VoIP companies are currently waving set up fees. There is an initial cost of buying VoIP phones, but the month to month cost reduction of phone bills will offset this initial expenditure within the first few months, and from there on out bills will be much much less.

Let’s look at the the advantages and disadvantages of having your own IP-PBX solution versus using a hosted IP-PBX solution?

Having your own IP-PBX solution gives you flexibility and control regarding IP-PBX. The solution runs on your server in your office.

The choice for a hosted IP-PBX solution means that it the solution will be running on a server at your ITSP of choice. You can compare an Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP) with an ISP, with the noted exception that an ITSP offers VoIP solutions.

Your choice depends on your wishes of features, costs, security and flexibility.

If you don’t want to do the maintenance, it’s best to avoid the hassle by choosing a hosted pbx. If you choose hosted, they will do the service for you. You won’t be needing pbx technicians in your company. Please note that your current network administrator is not automatically suited for running your ip-pbx system. A printing problem is not nearly as severe as a phone problem, so you will need someone competent.

If you don’t have a 3rd line support systems engineer or consultant, most of the time it’s not worth it to start it inside the company. Ut usually is too much of a hassle and risk. The best choice in this situation is hosted pbx.

From a security standpoint, having your own pbx offers advantages. All the files stay on your server and don’t go outside. With today’s ever lowering prices on storage hardware, this means you will have an almost unlimited amount of supply room for all sorts of data you need saved.

Some hosted IP PBX ask extra fees for additional users for settings up voicemails, autoattendants, routing, etc while if you have your own IP PBX you can manage this yourself and also choose the most cost efficient voip connection. You could choose several voip providers and program those in your pbx. The disadvantage of a hosted PBX is that you are most of the times stuck to their voip trunks.

So you have heard talk about VoIP, but what exactly does it mean? Well, the answer is that VoIP means different things to different people; it all depends on who you ask. Since the term VOIP can be applied in many unique ways, there is usually another word in front of VoIP to accurately explain the service. Usually the term VoIP is applied in one of the following ways: peer-to-peer VoIP, Virtual PBX VoIP, hosted VoIP, managed business VoIP, etc. Below is a short run down of these services providing you with a quick look at each niche market to help you better understand this service.

Peer-to-Peer. All this means is that two people, who have downloaded the same software, can talk directly to each other at no cost. The most popular example of this type of VoIP is Skype. Some important things to keep in mind with this service is that although it is free, it works best for individuals. This service is quite popular with students when they study abroad because it allows for easy communication with friends and family back at home in America. This service should not be used for businesses.

Residential VoIP. In general this means that you use your analog phone to chat with other people except in this case the call is going over the Internet instead of a phone line. An example of this is Vonage. An important thing to keep in mind is you get what you pay for. The price is better than a regular phone but service is often spotty.

Virtual PBX is a service that it makes a small company look bigger. If you have a one-person firm, this is a great option. You can set up a virtual PBX and have callers press one for sales, two for marketing and three for technology. Then you can have all calls routed to your cell phone. An example is GotVMail. Keep in mind however that while this is inexpensive, its functionality is limited.

Hosted is another type of service, and this means that there are phones but no central piece of equipment (i.e. server) at your office. This central technology is hosted by the provider. An example is Packet 8. The benefit of this service is that you get more functionality than with a virtual PBX, yet you don’t have to spend as much as you would on a managed business VoIP.

Managed Business. The positive is that it is nearly identical to hosted VoIP, except everything runs on private lines, instead of the public Internet. This makes it ideal for a very large company that will be in trouble if its phone system goes down, even on a very rare occasion and even if only for a few minutes. Some examples for this type of service are: M5, CBeyond, Cisco. Keep in mind though that better quality control here is going to cost extra. Be warned– this is the most expensive of all the VoIP options.

Picking Out the appropriate conference call services is vital to your organization. Conference calling allows people from around the world to assemble in real time and contribution precious ideas. There are numerous selections for conference calling, and so some criteria must be regarded before making a conclusion on what services are optimal for you.

First of all, you must determine if you need an operator-assisted call option, or the alternative of prompt conferencing. For a formal gathering, needing the function of higher-end features, an operator-assisted call may be your most proper selection. For instinctive or informal meetings, opting to have the option of quick conferencing may function greater with your demands. A third alternative growing in popularity is directing teleconferences via the Net – however this option may solely be appropriate if all attendees feature similar networking capabilities.

During your actual group meeting, you have some additional alternatives to look at. Would you like a roll-call of group meeting participants, either to be announced as every individual links up or as a group? Do you require a chaired question-and-answer session at the conclusion of the group discussion? For web-based conferences, do you want to include a viewable demonstration including slides or a movie?

Your next consideration should be the result you wish to consider at the close of your conference call. Do you want a taping that others can access afterwards, if they have missed the call or if they want to review themselves on the particulars? Do you want reporting from the conferencing service on group meeting attendee demographics?

Finally, and as with any business consideration, you need to consider cost of services. Contingent upon how hi-tech the choices you select for your call option are, you could see quite a tremendous invoice after your call is finished. Cautiously deliberate the pricing of every companies you consider, and you will be well on your path to picking out the proper conference call service.
