Trading penny stocks can be tricky, especially if you like to find them on your own. The good news is there are a whole range of websites that can help you spot and trade the best.

Trading penny stocks on your own can be risky even with direction from online resources. Any top trader will tell you in order to be as profitable as possible, you have to go beyond looking for solid companies and using technical analysis to enter and exit trades.

Screening out the mediocre penny stocks is the key to being a successful individual trader. The following concepts will steer you in the right direction.

Determine Who Owns the Lions Share of the Company

When management of a company represents a large chunk of shareholders, it may help prevent it from going under. As owners, theyre highly motivated to keep the company above water. On the other hand, if management/owners begin unloading stock, you may want to avoid it all together.

Its easy enough to find the details of company ownership. Most publicly traded companies are required to disclose this information in an 8K and/or Form 4 filed with the SEC.

Getting the Word Out ” The price of penny stocks are often affected as much by the publicity it receives as its fiscal success.

This isnt to imply an organization needs to post a news release every single day to garner constant attention. However, a company can only excite potential buyers by letting them know whats going on. And, it cant be a one-time event.

Volume Matters ” If a penny stock you buy doesnt have a steady volume of buyers, you may not be able to exit the position at a reasonable price.

If 500 shares of a penny stock trade hands on one day and then 500,000 shares trade hands the next, which is it going to be when it comes time to take a profit on the 100,000 shares you may own? Liquid penny stocks are consistently liquid.

When it comes to volume, you just need to make sure the pre-surge volume is respectable. High-volume breakouts often spawn new uptrends, so you shouldnt necessarily avoid them.

If you buy a penny stock without doing a little research, you just might find yourself on the losing end of a loser company. It may have been started on a whim, without a plan for growth, or a long-term patent may be close to expiring.

When you consider buying a penny stock, realize that these companies are in early stages of growth. You want to make sure it has a game plan for expansion or a product about to launch that will bring in profits.

Likewise, more than half of all stocks trade at a value under their IPO price within twelve months after their public offering sale. Thats not a problem for a true long-term investor, but it can make things challenging for a penny stock trader who wants to get in early shortly after an IPO. It can take a while for a new stock to settle in and start trading predictably.

A rule of thumb for buying penny stocks is to only buy those with an element of contextual history.

Apply these four simple concepts to your penny stock trading strategy, and enjoy success right off the bat.

These four elements are not meant to replace a good trading discipline and chart monitoring. Use them in conjunction with sound strategy and youre likely to improve your track record as a penny stock trader.

Knowing the basics of stock market investing can help you get started with stock investing the right way. Stock market is an uncertain place that you can lose money or make a lot of money if you know what you are doing. The basics of stock market investing will teach you what to do when investing in the stock market so you will not waste your time, money, and efforts.

To start off with, most basics of stock market investing guides will teach you about stock exchanges. There are many stock exchanges. Most people have heard of the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq but there are other stock exchanges too.

It is useful to learn about other countries’ stock exchanges too. Most investors when they are more advanced they start investing in international stocks. Knowing how the stock exchanges of different countries operate will make you a wiser investor. There are many stocks that trade in international markets that are great buys and should not be overlooked.

Investors can invest in many types of stocks. You will learn all about the differences between each type of stocks in your basics of stock market investing study. There are different risks and rewards associated with different types of stocks. It is important to know what the risks and rewards are before you invest in them. Most people invest in many types of stocks because they want to have diversified portfolios.

Large cap stocks are often more stable than mid cap stocks or small cap stocks as you will learn in your basics of stock market investing study. By investing in all cap stocks, you can be more sure that when large cap stocks are not doing so great, at least you have other caps to offset the losses. However, lots more types of investments are needed for truly diversified portfolios.

Stocks that pay dividends are sometimes the most attractive of all stocks especially to investors who seek income from dividends. However, there is an art to dividend investing and through your basics of stock market investing study, you can learn about how to pick dividend paying stocks and how to analyze them. Not all dividend paying stocks are good investments of course.

Many people lose money jumping into investing in the stock market without learning the basics of stock market investing. Don’t make that mistake. If you don’t know what you are doing, you can lose lots of money. If you learn the basics of stock market investing thoroughly, you can avoid all the common pitfalls of stock investing that people have faced.

When people wanted to invest, once upon a time, they needed to call their brokers on the phone to secure an order. Then the broker would input the order into a system connected with trading floors, and then the order is made. It was a complicated process to invest in these times, and you really had to know what you were doing if you wanted to invest.

This time is thankfully long past. With the advent of the Internet, a lot of potential investors can now place their orders online and even trade with other investors through Electronic Communications Networks. There are a number of orders that are still directed to a broker for approval, of course. This is done to protect the client as well as the brokerage firm from improper trades that could damage the client’s portfolio. But all in all, the system is a lot easier now.

Although, easier is not always the same thing as safer. Akin to the old phone call method of before, investors may still fall prey to disreputable brokerage firms that will only scam the investor out of their hard-earned money. If anything, it’s a lot easier to build a fake identity on the Internet, so skepticism is a virtue in these times, when dealing with finances. It is good advice to triple-check the credentials of the brokerage firm you’re looking at; ask if they’re licensed in their state. This is important for an investor to know.

Anyone who wishes to invest should know the dangers when placing an order without seeking advice from a trained Stock Broker or Investment Advisor. If you do not go for their experience and knowledge in these, or if you neglect their advice, your endeavor will most likely be doomed to failure. This is why a lot of online brokers offer a number of investment tools.

An investor must also be fully aware of each of the companies’ business, sector and financial statements, if s/he wishes to buy stock from them. This knowledge will help you on your decision, preventing you from being making rash judgments. If you keep these things in mind, you’ll do fine in online trading.

by Mark Boucher

Are you willing to gamble a little bit of disposable income to possibly earn a big return? If so, penny stocks might be an option for you to consider. While you should always use caution and not invest money you can’t afford to lose, penny stocks offer you the opportunity to become involved in the trading world for an affordable amount.

What is a penny stock? It is simply a stock that is selling for less than five dollars for each share. These stocks are not traded on the major exchanges (AMEX, NASDAQ and NYSE), but rather over Pink Sheets (so called because of the original color of the paper used). This is often known as OTCBB, or Over the Counter Bulletin Board. This is simply an electronic system that reports changes. Be aware that it is regulated by the NASD, but is not considered a NASDAQ stock exchange.

Buying penny stocks is considered a high-risk investment, meaning that you may lose big. But this also means that you can earn extremely high returns in a short time. The risk and potential earnings are what keep people trading these stocks. Sometimes the return can be several hundred percent a day. Risks with these stocks are limited liquidity, the lack of financial reports and potential fraud.

When buying penny stocks, the lack of buyers may make it difficult to sell stocks. The lack of reporting and volatility of these stocks make it easy for brokers to manipulate as well. This is why fraud is so rampant for these trades. There is no regulatory listing requirement for these stocks either.

The news is not all dismal, though. Penny stocks are popular because of the huge returns some investors find. In order to get started in penny stocks, first find a brokerage who offers this type of service. Your stock shares will be drawn from your investment account through the brokerage. You set the amount you want to invest, and decide how much of your investment will go into the high risk stocks.

Having a broker is important for sound advice, just do your research to find the one best for you. Make sure you have someone reputable that wants to see you earn good returns. The best advice when investing money after making sure you can afford the investment is to spread your money over different types of stocks. If you like the gamble and want a high return, absolutely put some money in penny stocks. You are able to see the highest returns on these stocks, but risk higher losses. Make sure you keep some money in a safer market while you play the penny stock game.

Risk tolerance is essential for taking stock market investing advice. As you know more about investing, you’ll come to see that each individual has their own tolerance to risk that should be understood thoroughly. A professional financial planner worth his salt must know this and help you determine what that tolerance is for you. Then, that person needs to help you ascertain which investment vehicles fit your risk level.

Many people think that risk tolerance is related only to your emotional reaction to investing.Nothing could be farther from the truth. A lot has to be taken into account when ascertaining what your risk tolerance level is, and gauging your emotional response is only a small part of it.

Understanding your risk tolerance level, with regards to beginner stock market investing, involves the consideration of multiple factors. One of those factors being that you know how much investment capital you have available, and the other is your complete awareness of your financial end game. As an illustration, if you plan to take retirement in 12 years and you haven’t saved any money at all, you’re going to have to have a high risk tolerance and do some hardcore investing to reach your financial goals by the time you want to retire.

On the other hand, if you start investing quite early for your retirement, your beginner stock market investing tolerance toward risk can remain low. Developing the saving habit early will allow you to grow your money in a leisurely fashion. When you combine this with what you know about your emotional reaction to financial issues, the right investment formula will become obvious. It can be hard to figure this out yourself, so it’s best to use a knowledgeable financial planner or stock broker who can expertly assess you risk tolerance and assist you with selecting appropriate investment instruments.

Knowing your risk tolerance will help you establish an investment style and help you feel confident when you and your broker make investment decisions. Even though there are multiple investment types, there are really only three specific investment styles – and those styles are directly related to your personal risk tolerance. Those three styles are called aggressive, moderate and conservative. But I will save the explanation of those for another article. Those will be clarified in a future editorial.

The economy is currently in a recession. As many people have said it before, it will probably get worse before it recovers. That being said, this is not a good time to lose common sense; while the financial situation is rocky and unstable, it is still there and functioning. There is no need for panic, and it’s not a good idea to keep your money under your mattress.

You could, instead, make wise choices with the money you have in this troubled times. Losing what you may have saved for a long time is a terrible thing to think about; but to keep it locked away and useless is just about the same thing. Make careful choices to avoid a crash and burn during this recession, but remember to move forward. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but you have to go to it, not the other way around.

Make that investment in stocks you’ve been pondering on, or buy those bonds you’ve had your eye on. There’s no need to fear as long as you’ve thought about it thoroughly, and more importantly, have consulted a qualified broker with your decision. Be careful not to make rash judgments, and think about it as much as any other investment you plan to make.

I have made mention of consulting a stock broker. Nowadays, you can place stock orders through the Internet, and before you do, make sure to do a background check on anyone who will be handling your funds. Is s/he really with the brokerage firm? Does the brokerage firm have a legitimate license to operate? Make sure of everything and make sure Boiler Room firms don’t pull a fast one.

Put that money to good use. Stagnant assets are really not assets at all, and they will eventually become liabilities as time goes by and they depreciate in value. When consumers begin to spend again, and the economy picks up, everything will slowly recover. For now, make sure to make the best decision in investing.

How would investments be possible if you’re barely making good savings? Say you’re making around $25,000 annually. Between feeding yourself, paying for your mortgages, your gas money and other expenses, you know that you have to start investing for your future. It’s a good idea to start doing so; because even in small amounts, savings can add up surprisingly fast if done regularly.

Don’t worry about it, Uncle Sam is here and willing to help a citizen of his country. For example, take the statistics over the past ten years. Annually, the stock market returned about eight percent on average, so even if you start with absolutely nothing and invest about ten dollars every week, and match an investment with about eight percent return, you’ll have about $8000 in ten years. If you got a better investment, one that goes for about twelve percent in annual returns, you’ll even get to ten thousand.

One big thing to remember, though; investing with a lot of small amounts of money does not mean you have to bet it all on one horse. Regardless of talent, any stock investor will eventually pick up a bad investment that will drop about thirty percent before the morning paper the next day. It’s not so bad if that’s only a small fraction of your stocks, but it’s a financial disaster if you lost about a fifth of your money.

So, as a small-time investor, it would make more sense to go for mutual funds and exchange-traded funds. Why is that? Well, for starters, mutual funds provide automatic diversification. As most hold dozens of stocks, one of them failing will have minimal impact on the portfolio.

And one last thing to remember: I would advise to purchase these funds directly from a fund company. If you’re a small-time investor, buying them through stockbrokers won’t work, as a lot of them will ask for a big-sized check to open accounts. However, it’s not a big problem, and it can be overcome with ease.

Risk tolerance is essential for taking stock market investing advice. When you’re just starting to invest in the stock market, you’ll come to see that each individual has their own tolerance to risk that should be understood thoroughly. The investment professional you choose must understand this and help you determine what that tolerance is for you. Then, that person should help you find out which stocks fit within your risk profile.

It’s commonly assumed that risk tolerance is related only to your emotional reaction to investing.Nothing could be farther from the truth. Several things have to be considered when deciding your own risk tolerance level, and emotions are only a piece of the overall picture.

Determining your risk tolerance, with regards to online stock market investing, requires awareness of multiple factors. One is that you have to be aware of the funds you have available to devote to investing, and the other is that you are completely aware of what you are trying to achieve financially. As a case in point, if you plan to stop working in 13 years and you haven’t even started saving for retirement yet, you’ll need a substantial risk tolerance and do some hard line investing to have enough cash to retire.

But, If you start investing your money for retirement while you’re still in your early twenties, your stock market investing advice tolerance toward risk can remain low. Developing the saving habit early will allow you to grow your money in a leisurely fashion. When you combine this with what you know about your emotional reaction to financial issues, you will have the investment mix that’s right for you. It can be hard to figure this out yourself, so experts recommend that people use a reliable professional that can help you find an acceptable risk tolerance, and help you select your investment vehicles accordingly.

Knowing your risk tolerance will help you establish an investment style and help you and/or your broker choose investments wisely. While there are many different types of investments that one can make, only three investment styles exist – and those styles sync up with your personal risk tolerance. Those three styles are called aggressive, moderate and conservative. But I will save the explanation of those for another article. Those will be explained in a future editorial.

Current info about stock market is not always the easiest thing to locate. Fortunately, this report includes the latest stock market info available.

In 1929, one of the darkest times in stock market history, as well American history took place. During the famous “Black Tuesday” the ticker tape fell behind by two and a half hours. But if we the church in America will stand in the gap and humble ourselves and pray we will see the biggest explosion in stock market history. Every nation is either under a blessing or a curse depending upon the condition of the church of Jesus Christ within it. Yes, we’ve even included a relatively recent addition in this article on stock market history. And that’s because we recognize the importance of this particular exchange.

That’s because while most bear markets more or less track the business cycle, this one began with a broken financial system. That makes the current bear more like the one that snarled from 1929-32 than others of the past 100 years. This was, as far as we know, the first software designed to analyze any price series in relationship to planetary cycles. The program introduced composite cycles and a facility to analyze the effect of aspects on any market. There are many characteristics of stock market that are revealed by the chart history like stock market matrix, significant swings, secular cycles, Generation returns, distorted averages etc. Various mutual funds and institutional investors study the chart history comprehensively, before making any investment.

That’s one reason why I think those long, flat periods that I mentioned in 100 Years of Stock Market History are important. For bulls and bears alike, the 1930s was the most fantastic period in stock market history. Stock prices collapsed between 1929 and 1932, losing an average 88%, but industrial, rail, and utility stocks all shot up from their lows in the summer of 1932, anticipating the end of hard times. It may have been the worst year in stock market history, but we can?t remember when we had such a good time. We barely broke a sweat the entire year; never were there more jackasses to laugh at or more con artists to admire.

Now that we’ve covered those aspects of stock market, let’s turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered.

The main reason is that people are naturally cautious, especially with their own money, and the return on stocks is highly volatile from day to day. This inclination toward caution is perfectly reasonable, reflecting an intuitive understanding of an important financial truth: the average return is not the only thing that matters when evaluating an investment. Shiller, a respected expert on market volatility, offers an unconventional interpretation of recent U.S. He warns that poorer performance may be in the offing and tells us how we–as a country and individually–can respond.

Recently we have experienced one of the sharpest declines in stock market history. It has taken stocks to their lowest prices in 11 years. In 1929, one of the darkest times in stock market history, as well American history took place. This helped contribute to $100 billion in lost assets to investors. My point in exploring this extended stock market history is to demonstrate that the widely accepted notion of a reliable 5 percent equity risk premium is a myth. Over this full 207-year span, the average stock market yield and the average bond yield have been nearly identical.

Why not just ignore the volatility and collect the increased risk premium from stocks? That is the message of those who believe in “Stocks for the Long Run” and also from those who want you to invest in their long-only mutual fund or managed account program. Google Stock has a beta of .81, indicating that the stock price fluctuations are less volatile that the movement in the stock market. This crash and burn showed just how risky and volatile the stock market was. The crash also went to show that so-called “booms” in the stock market only last temporarily.

When people wanted to invest, once upon a time, they needed to call their brokers on the phone to secure an order. Then the broker would input the order into a system connected with trading floors, and then the order is made. It was a complicated process to invest in these times, and you really had to know what you were doing if you wanted to invest.

This time is now long gone. With the help of the Internet, potential investors now place their orders online, and can even trade with other investors through Electronic Communications Networks. Of course, a number of orders are still directed to the broker for approval. This way, the clients as well as the brokerage firm are protected from improper trades that could affect the client’s portfolio. But on the whole, the system is a lot easier now.

But, easier is not the same thing as safer, though. Investors may still fall into the clutches of brokerage firms of ill-repute, and find themselves scammed out of their hard-earned money. It’s easier to go about by an anonymous or fake identity on the Internet, so it’s good to be skeptical about anyone who wishes to help you “handle” your finances. It’s sound advice to triple-check the credentials of the brokerage firm in question; are they licensed? It’s vital for a potential investor to find it out.

Anyone wishing to invest also needs to know the dangers of placing an order without the advice of a trained Stock Broker or Investment Advisor. Without their experience and education in these matters, not asking for or neglecting their advice will surely prove to be disastrous. This is the reason why most online brokers offer quite a fair number of investment tools.

An investor must also be fully aware of each of the companies’ business, sector and financial statements, if s/he wishes to buy stock from them. This knowledge will help you on your decision, preventing you from being making rash judgments. If you keep these things in mind, you’ll do fine in online trading.
