Concrete Polisher’s Toolbox

Concrete Polishing is a task which requires tools and gadgets to be able to work effectively. There a wide variety of methods available for a floor contractor and information always come in handy. The right tool for the right kind of method makes the process easier, speedier and effective.

One staple material in a concrete polisher’s toolkit is a piece of rag or cloth. This can be used to wipe excess water due to surface preparation and for scrubbing stains. A rag can also be use to eliminate dust particles from the work surface and to wipe tools during cleaning process.

Another type of tool for concrete polishing is the concrete grinder which is used for the concrete grinding method. The concrete grinding method involves a lot of grinding and polishing of an uneven and untreated concrete surface before the application of shine. Concrete grinders are widely available in different types.

A tape is essential when preparing the floor that needs to be stained. A thick and handy painters tape or even a common masking tape can be used. Tapes can come also in different widths- narrow widths are better when a decorative artwork is being applied. Wider widths are advisable if staining will be done on a wider, bigger design scale.

Household mops are essential tools in replace or in addition to rags. They remove excess water that results when preparing a floor that needs to be polished. They can also be used when a large area of the concrete floor needs to be stained as tints are applied on cloths before directly applying on the floor.

Squegees are also used as a tool in concrete polishing preparation. They are mainly used to spread out the new layer of sealer to the concrete that is filled with cracks due to wear and tear. It is also used to remove excess water out of the surface.

Who would have thought that these staple household tools have the same importance in the process of concrete polishing? Having the right tools and using them correctly will make the process of concrete polishing efficient, effective and of great quality.
