Home Based Business- Saying vs. Doing

When I was a kid I really looked up to my dad. I thought he was the most intelligent man in the world. Maybe I feel this way because he was my dad but I still held he in high regard when it came to brain power. He had great ideas and I wanted to be just like him when I grew up.

Well one day never came and for years I wondered why one of the greatest minds in the history of man couldnt make in what was ultimately a home based business. There are a few theories that I have come up with that could explain why my father didnt make it to the big time with his inventions. My emotional self wants to blame others but my rational self knows that it was much more than that.

Dad wanted to have a home based business where he created and marketed his inventions. He often saw things differently and was always thinking of news ways that people could accomplish their dialy tasks. Every time my father had a new idea he would show so much joy and excitement that my mom and I would get excited too. But soon after that the joy would run out after not much success.

As I grew and as the years went by I figured out some of the reasons why my dad wasn’t able to fulfill his dream of owning his own home based business. I learned that while my dad had the joy and excitement that came with creating new contraptions, he didn’t have the drive and faith it took to step out on a limb. I can’t recall my dad ever really trying to sell his inventions to the marketplace.

Seeing what my dad did and didn’t do has inspired me to take some different steps when it comes to running my own home based business. I have made a choice to go out and find success instead of waiting for it to come knock at my door.

Dad’s lesson was that often times a person can get caught in the paralysis of analysis and be so caught up in saying what they’ll do that they never do anything.

When you decide to start your own home based business you must be focused and action oriented otherwise you’ll never get anything done.
