Do you want to learn how to write songs that people love? There are easy ways for you to make your songs stand out from others if you are motivated to express yourself. People write songs for many reasons, and much of it comes from inspiration.
Many songwriters use their life experiences to vent their feelings and thoughts. It’s a great way to get inspired without working at it because inspiration is so natural and real. But it’s true that many songwriters think of what people would like to hear so they can have a popular hit song instead.
Many popular songs that are composed have met special requirements to be accepted. Although special songs composed for popular audiences have to adhere to more exact guidelines than songs composed for amusement, there can be so many choices of types of singers and types of musical styles. Each singer has his or her individual style that is suitable for a certain type of musical genre.
As a songwriter, you probably lean toward writing the type of music that appeals to you. Most creative songwriters do not want to write predictable, uninspired songs as they like to express how they feel in music and words. When you get time to compose try to get inspired thinking of special or emotional times and moments in your life and translate it into music.
To begin with, compose for your intended group of fans. If you have just one fan or many fans, compose music that you feel you are good at writing and that will draw in your listeners. When you write about what makes you emotional or touches your soul, you will connect with your audience in a more uniquely special way.
Music that is written with emotional truth will make a true connection with most audiences, who want to identify with a good song. If you don’t like romantic songs with gushy lyrics, write about something from your life experiences that speaks with your unique voice. You can compose and write music about your past experiences with family, friends, mishaps, unfortunate incidents and so on.
Inspiration can come from a variety of unexpected sources. The best way to be prepared when your song muse emerges is to carry with you a notepad to jot down ideas and inspirations as they come to you in everyday life. Songwriting inspiration may come from an unusual sound or rhythm you hear, from things you observe in nature, or from something as simple as a coffee shop conversation.
Find someone who you think best matches the personality of your song to sing or play your song. First, you will hear how someone else interprets the meaning of your song and second, you will hear how another person’s rendition matches with what you had intended your song to sound like. Use this information to make changes or fine tune the song if its not quite what you had intended.
